Surety
Game version 2.1.0 · Updated 11/04/2026
A Sure hit is a strong blow that lands by chance; every strike rolls for it on its own. It raises that strike's damage a great deal, so it directly shapes the damage the party deals. What affects it most, in order: the gap between the attacker's Surety and the target's Sure Evasion, the skill modifier and the Luck modifier.
- Luck modifier = 0.05 × min (The smaller one)(100, max (The larger one)(−100, Attacker's Luck − Target's Luck))
- Luck modifier = 0.05 × min (The smaller one)(100, max (The larger one)(−100, Attacker's Luck 43–44 − Target's Luck 1)) = 2.1–2.15
- Surety rate = min (The smaller one)(100, max (The larger one)(0, Attacker's Surety 21–22 − Target's Sure Evasion 25 + Skill modifier 30 + Luck modifier 2.1–2.15 (Rounded up))) = 29–30%
Surety and Sure Evasion #
- An adventurer's Surety comes from Dexterity, plus equipment and skills; see the Stats.
- Dagger-type equipment often carries Nimble Strike, which adds a share of Dexterity to Surety, as onEbonsteel Dagger.
- Sure Evasion comes only from equipment and skills, such as the blessing SEV Increase (fixed) and Royal Herald Amulet.
- An enemy's Surety and Sure Evasion follow from its level; each enemy's page gives the values.
Skill modifier #
Every attack has its own Skill modifier. A normal attack has 0; a skill uses its own value instead.
| Skill | Skill modifier |
|---|---|
Anticipated Attack | 40–64 (by skill level) |
Wild Strike | −30 |
Life Siphon | −100 |
Every attack spell has a Skill modifier of −100 or below, so Surety must exceed the target's Sure Evasion by about 100 before a spell lands a Sure hit. On a skill's page, the "Surety rate modifier" row of the skill level table is its Skill modifier.
Luck #
The Luck modifier uses both sides' Luck before any buffs or debuffs in battle. Enemies have no Luck and count as 1, so an adventurer's Luck modifier against enemies is mostly positive.
Guaranteed Sure hits #
An enemy in preparation is charging up a move it unleashes on its next turn.
Surety damage #
A Sure hit multiplies its damage by the Surety damage multiplier. Without Surety Damage Up, it is 1.75.
- Surety damage multiplier = (175 + Surety Damage Up 20) ÷ 100 = 1.95
How it combines with the other multipliers is in Damage.
Changes in battle #
Surety and Sure Evasion change in battle through the sources below; one or two examples of each:
- Passive skills, in effect once learned, such as Passive Surety Up (Thief),Thousandfold Grip.
- Skills the adventurer uses, such as Hiding,Shedding Armor, Flashing Blade.
- Skills with a condition, such as Will to Fight(when HP is low) andCunning Pursuit(when the target suffers an ailment or a lowered stat).
- Debuffs: enemy skills can lower an adventurer's Surety, such as アブゾデック.
How buffs and debuffs are worked out is in the Stats.
